Eli's Story
Eli is a wonderful 13-year-old young man with an interesting and remarkable story. He has been on a miraculous journey his whole life and this is the beginning of the next chapter.
Eli began having seizures when he was 17 months old and these quickly progressed to become life-threatening. After much testing and trying several medications, it was determined that the best thing for Eli was brain surgery to try and stop them. On May 17,1999, Eli underwent a modified hemispherectomy, the removal of most of the left side of his brain. This surgery left him seizure free, but paralyzed on the right side of his body and without speech. He has, over the last 11 years regained his speech, his ability to walk and much use of his right hand, in what we feel is a remarkable recovery.
But this world is a two-handed world and in our desire to allow him to be as independent as possible, we recently applied for a service dog for him. We hope that this dog will not only assist him in carrying things, opening doors for him when his hand is full and helping him keep his balance when he is walking in his beloved mountains, we also hope that the dog will be a bridge to the rest of the world for him, helping him connect with others. We also know that the special bond he will have with the dog will only benefit him in ways we can't imagine right now.Join us as we move forward through his journey to his dog, and the rest of his life.

How Can We Say Thank You Enough??
Eli's Benefit Dinner and Concert was a success! What a wonderful night! We started with dinner and magic and Handbell music. Then we moved to an incredible, moving concert. It was a full night, in many many ways. How can we ever say thank you enough?
Where to start? First, we have to say THANK YOU!!!! to all the amazing people who sang, played, directed, set up, tore down and WASHED DISHES at Eli's Benefit Dinner and Concert.Julie Hackmann, Linda Bennett, Adam Jacky, Donna Daniel, Vicki Harmon, Kaylee Cumpston, Brandee Pepper, David Medawar, Todd Langston, Nery Alonso, Paul Torgeson, Debi Blau, Jing Zeng, Ron Reid, KMS Choir and Handbells, Jayme Joint and Katie Grant, Marcos De Niza and Corona High School performers - Julie Song, Aston Corey,Tyler Higginbotham, Emilie Doering, Noah Brown, Cecilia Iole. It wouldn't have been a concert with out you, It wouldn't have been a dinner without you. It wouldn't have been anything. So THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts! You are all fabulous and we owe you more than we could ever pay, more thanks than we could ever say.
Next, we want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you who donated, came, supported, clapped, cheered, and cried with us. We each hope that our children go through this world loved and cared for. It is humbling and amazing to see that hope be fulfilled in such an immediate way.
Thank you so much to those who donated items for the Raffle - and what a fun raffle it was!! Elena Cuevas, Ann-Marie Knapp, Jason Knapp, Shelby Langston, Linda Dickson, Vandi Olson with Gold Rush at Home, Chick-fil-a, TOTT's Asian Diner, Boston Market, Kyrene Lanes. We couldn't have done it without you!!! Please, patronize these businesses! They are wonderful!
A special thanks to Lindsay Hallam Photography for the beautiful pictures of Eli and the Power Paws dogs!! Also to Whitten Printers, for donating printing for our event.
To Corona Baptist Church, we must say a humble thank you for allowing us to use the beautiful sanctuary for this event.
We brought in over $3,100 last night, which exceeded our goal to pay for the dog and training. We are humbled, grateful and excited for the next chapter of Eli's life to start!!
We love you, we need you, and we are here for you, too. Thank you so much,
The Goldstick Family
